COURSE PHOTO DOCUMENTATION

Weather conditions throughout 2009 marathon run: low 50s,
total cloud cover, foggy
The weather condition remained in low 50s and quite foggy
Looking forward to the start
1 minute from the starting gun!
Crossing the Starting Line
Approaching the Westin Seattle were I stayed
(close to starting and finishing lines)
Wife Erlinda catches me passing the Westin Seattle
After a quick pose, it's back to the run
Home of the Seattle Seahawks
Fog rolling in
3 mile mark - surprise: lst marathon I've run in that portable
potties are used as mile markers :=(
(so get to see a lots of potties for this particular marathon course
documentation)
Clear marking so no mistakes; unlike the Las Vegas Marathon of
2006 when I had the disaster of going to the
half marathon finish line and thereby becoming disqualified for the full
marathon that I registered for and traveled
afar to participate in.
Heading out the renown famous concrete floating bridge
Runners below - these are the half marathoners who don't cross
the floating bridge
Fog and a chillly 50F greets us, concealing Mercer Island on the other end of this crossing of Lake Washington
5 mile mark is on the bridge; faster runners coming back from island
It's Santa! Note how the fog kept the roads damp.
Other end of bridge or Welcome to Mercer Island
But all we do is turn-around; sorry, no scenic shots of Mercer Island
It's back to Seattle
Note the high level of the lake (very deep) - the bridge
indeed is floating!
7 miles is midway on the bridge gong back to the city
Arriving at the other end
And that end of bridge is the 8 mile mark of the run
On Washington Lake Blvd.
Running south, at Mt. Baker area
lst time for me to run long distance in foggy conditions; the sun's heat is not a factor for enduring the miles
Nice homes line the lake view
Now on Seward Park, a pensinula off Washington Lake
Blvd, close to Columbia City district of Seattle
Shucks, can't see the lake due to the heavy fog!
On Mercer Park pensinula, the half way mark (to the runner, seems like an island as we circumvent it's lake perimeter)
The "island" makes a nice walk in nature for local residents
My time at the halfway point
I may make a oil painting based upon this scene - I'm also Pygoya, web-based artist
Leaving Mercer, about 2.5 miles around its perimeter
