An incline into a treed area

Where coyotes sometimes cross!

A beautiful morning view of the Bay

Since the Golden Gate Bridge is at sea level, you can see how much elevation we had to climb to pass this view.

Still climbing

Cute residence with Sunday paper awaiting it's resident retrieval.

Still climbing; most hilly part of course is first half of the 26.2 miles.

A slope downwards

Lovely apartments abutted right next to each other, characteristic of the architectural character of San Francisco.

Throughout the course, I had to watch signs to not accidentally join the half marathon group. This mixing of the two groups on the same route, groups with different starting times, added a distracting element to the enjoyment of running the SF marathon.

Running into a park; times displayed always refers only to the lst wave of starting runners - the elite athletes.

Seagulls in the park

Only way to patrol such a large park

A USC Trojan is spotted! All that armor looked heavy.

Posing at the mid-way point of the full marathon! I like the downward hill behind me.

Suddenly, the start of a second group of half marathoners - in the park. What a strange way to organize a marathon event.

Bad shot, but those are Bison or Buffalo in this part of the park.

At 14, many of those fresh legs are Half marathoners passing me by. A downer.

Half Marathoners behind me. Mounted police not looking for speeders.

15 mile mark still doesn't take me "out of the woods."

Comfy downward slope

16 miles.

Nice run if you like forested areas.

Nice pond in the park with ducks swimming by.

Uphill

After 17 miles, there should be relatively less rolling hills,
according to my earlier topographic review of the course.
The course has 6 miles or almost 1/4th of it running through Golden Gate Bridge
