MAUI MARATHON 2005

A stretch of beach

A nice park for picnicking

Ah, 20 miles and the scene still looks the same, huh?

Even hula girls take a break to freshen up

Houses!  We must be near Lahaina

Ah, my wife Erlinda greets me on the Lahaina main drag with a water bottle!

Early Sunday morning in Lahaina town so not much tourist stirring about yet.  Used to be an old whaling port.

Used to be whaling ships anchored out there; now it's all pleasure crafts.

Lots of shops in old Lahaina

Did that funky vibes!

A Buddist temple, built in 1912.

Leaving Lahaina town

Note sunbather in foreground, definitely not a marathoner.

There's my wife again, asking if I need a ride to the Finish line.

Privacy for a residence with a banana exterior buffer from the street.

The neighbors

More neighbors, giving praise to runners succumbing to the heat and the distance.

The other side of the street

Must be good living.

Suddenly a train passes by!

Almost there

Another Finish Line.

Closing in on the finish at a hotel.

Our last hula girls as we turn the corner into the private entry road of the Maui Westin Hotel

The number "26" never looks any better in life than as a road sign on a marathon course.

Done deal!  Erlinda greets me in front of x-whale at the hotel and we hobble off (well, just me) for some salty soupy noodles and one huge Coke!
